Experienced Trial Lawyer

For the past 25 years, I have been trying cases before Broward County Judges. I continue to appear in court daily and represent clients throughout Florida.

Fair and Impartial Listener

As an experienced trial attorney, I understand how important it is for judges to listen to all parties with an open mind and without prejudice.

Justice for All

Everyone deserves a voice.  Our County is rich in diversity and culture, and I believe our justice system needs to be accessible to every resident of Broward County.

Experience

Kathleen has worked in the legal community in various roles since 1985. As a practicing trial lawyer for the past 25 years she has tried hundreds of cases statewide in both Circuit and County Court. Kathleen continues to appear statewide using various means of technology. She also continues to appear daily at the Broward County Courthouse to represent her clients before our Circuit and County Court Judges. Kathleen is also an appellate attorney and has handled between 50 - 100 appeals before 5 of our District Courts of Appeal. Kathleen has engaged in oral argument before 2 of our DCAs. She has many PCAs, as well as published decisions. Kathleen has served on a Florida Bar Grievance Committee, and in the past 5 years have been appointed by judges throughout the state to serve as an attorney/guardian ad litem in more than 50 cases. Kathleen was charged with the responsibility of protecting the rights of others who could not represent themselves in ongoing litigation matters. Finally, Kathleen has been a Hearing Officer for the St. Petersburg Housing Authority for the past 3 1/2 years and in that capacity she presides over disputes between case managers and program participants.

One of my greatest joys is seeing how well they are now doing, and how they have enhanced our legal community.  One of the greatest compliments I have been blessed with is to be routinely engaged to assist some of those same individuals in ongoing litigation.

EXPERIENCE YOU CAN TRUST

Kathleen has been a Broward County resident for over 50 years. Her parents decided to raise their family in Pompano Beach in the early 1970s. Kathleen and her husband, Frank, were married 31 years ago. They too decided to raise their family in Broward County.

In partnership with the many talented school teachers and administrators their children flourished here, and went on to attend the University of Florida. (Go Gators!) Their youngest just graduated with his Master of Arts in Economics. After graduating from UF with a Masters in Finance, their daughter was blessed with the opportunity to attend the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania where she is completing her MBA.

With both of their children now grown, Kathleen and her husband have decided that Kathleen should continue her legal work and ongoing service to our community by running for  Judge.

Kathleen is uniquely qualified to serve as a Broward County Judge.  First, Kathleen very naturally demonstrates the “judicial temperament”  necessary to be a successful Broward County Judge.  She is a patient and engaged listener.  She has a natural ability and desire to interact with others in a meaningful way.  Kathleen is also supportive and kind.   Second, Kathleen is very intelligent, and knows the law well.  Kathleen  is a zealous advocate, and is well respected throughout the Broward County Courthouse.   In fact, Kathleen has been repeated appointed by Circuit Court Judges throughout the state to serve as an attorney/guardian ad litem to protect the rights of unrepresented litigants in ongoing litigation.  She has also been trusted to serve as a Hearing Officer for the St. Petersburg Housing Authority, a role that she has been active in for the past 3 1/2 years.

Kathleen has always been one to rise to a chellenge.  Kathleen started at Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad Law Center (“NSU”) in Davie in 1996. With a Goodwin Fellowship in one hand, she navigated the halls of NSU while 6 months pregnant. Three years later not only did she handle this challenge with grace, but she graduated from NSU in 1999, Magna Cum Laude, with a Book Award, and with the honor of having been a contributing author and senior member of the Journal of International and Comparative Law.

Kathleen was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1999. After a brief stint as in-house counsel for NCCI, a national statistical rating agency, she became a trial and appellate attorney. For the past 25 years she has had the privilege of serving as a Managing Attorney and/or Partner for state and national law firms. In these roles she has demonstrated her extensive legal knowledge, and leadership acumen.

Today Kathleen appears before the distinguished Judges of Broward County daily, and together we ask for your support in her effort to join them on the bench.

What Makes a Good Judge

I believe there are certain skills that all good judges demonstrate. First, they have the necessary knowledge and litigation experience to serve Broward County well. They have the patience to listen to everyone that comes before them. They are after all public servants. They uphold the laws of our great state, and they have the fortitude to make the tough decisions. Finally, they must have the professionalism to treat everyone with dignity and respect.  Vote Kathleen “Kathie” Angione for Broward County Judge on August 20, 2024.
